Authenticity comes first
Authenticity is the part of Kaya we take most seriously. Every bag in the closet is authenticated before it reaches a member, and the process runs the same way whether the bag is a Chanel flap or a Bottega pouch.
There are two routes into the closet, and both end in the same place: a bag we can stand behind.
Provenance, wherever possible
Wherever we can, we source a bag from its original owner. When we do, it arrives with its own history: the original receipt, the brand certificate, the dust bag, and the box. We also work with vetted resellers who supply authentication documentation with the bag.
Original paperwork is the strongest proof a bag can carry, so a documented chain of ownership is always our first choice.
Entrupy, when the paperwork is not there
Pre-owned bags do not always keep their receipts. When the original paperwork is no longer available, we authenticate the bag through Entrupy, the market leader in third-party handbag authentication.
Entrupy uses microscopic imaging and a trained model built on millions of data points to confirm a bag is genuine. We can issue an Entrupy certificate for any bag in the collection.
Inspected, cared for, and delivered
Authentication is only part of it. Every bag is also inspected and professionally cleaned before it goes out, and each rental includes wear-and-tear cover and door-to-door delivery across South Africa.
